The Great Mountain is one of the highest mountains bordering the Crater. Despite the terrible cold and the recurrent blizzard and snowy weather, crossing the mountain range is the only way to reach the Crater.

This mountain offers the most secure and easiest path to access the Crater because many creatures already took this path in the past ; which is why most of the travelers decide to brave the Great Mountain instead of going for the other mountains around, with a risk of getting even more lost.
More than that, the Great Mountain seems to be full of caves, home to a variety of plants, which offer shelter, checkpoints, and sometimes food sources for the traveling creatures.
